The park offers several popular drop-off points with public cabin usage---where you go will depend on your experience level, length of trip desired and the scenery that you would like to see. Every route guarantees spectacular, awe-inspiring scenery as does the flight to and from each destination. If this is not enough, ask about taking advantage of your drop-off or pick-up flight to schedule a little extra flight-seeing trip. Our largest plane can carry up to seven people and gear to most drop-off points and from most pick-up points. We are not rafting guides and can merely give suggestions as to where you can go for enjoyable rafting. We suggest you speak with local rafting guides, Copper Oar, if you would like a guided rafting adventure.
Common rafting trips in the area include drop-offs or pick-ups at:
Upper Tana River -- Drop-off spot for Tana River trip
Hubert's Landing -- Drop-off spot for Chitina River trip
Jake's Bar -- Midway point on the Chitina River for drop-off, pick-up or just an overnight stay
Nizina Glacier -- Headwaters of the Nizina River
Glacier Creek -- Midway point drop-off for Nizina River area
Nizina River mouth -- Pick-up spot for Nizina River trips
Chitina -- Pick up at the confluence of the Chitina and Copper Rivers
Cordova -- For those who go all the way: terminus of the Copper River
Rafters enjoy some of the area's more exciting water on the Kennicott River.
After flying all of their gear in on McCarthy Air's bush plane, rafters prepare to put-in at the headwaters of the Chitina River at Hubert's Landing.
